Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment in Toronto, ON, usually takes one to two visits, and each visit lasts about an hour and a half. We decide how many visits you’ll have to come in based on the condition of your root canal. Our main aim is to remove the pulp and apply a filling to the resultant space.
We’ll have to gain access to the root first by creating an opening at the top of the tooth. Next, we’ll clean out the pulp and all the infected parts of the tooth. If we’re doing this over two visits, then we’ll apply a temporary filling then replace it with a permanent one on the second visit. On the other hand, if everything is happening in a single visit then we’ll go ahead and apply the permanent filling straightaway.
Root canal treatments in Toronto, aren’t painful because we use local anesthesia to numb the affected area. You might feel some pressure during the procedure, but there won’t be any pain. If you feel any pain, then let us know, but that shouldn’t happen.
After the Procedure
The tooth that got the treatment might be a little sensitive for a couple of days. It’s often a good idea to chew on the other side until that sensitivity fades away. You might have slight discomfort too. If the discomfort and sensitivity persist or are intolerable, then give us a call or visit us so we can figure out what the problem is.
